Bargain hunters rejoice. Linat Orchim offers tidy lodgings overseen by the local Jewish community inside a restored building dating from the 19th century. You’ll need to be buzzed through an iron gate if returning at night, and don’t make the mistake of dive bombing onto the bed – mattresses here are iron sheet hard. But these are small niggles; refreshed rooms in Linat represent a smashing deal, and range from pristine twins that share immaculate bathrooms, to large sized suites with private balconies. Check out the stairwell, preserved from days yore when Łódź was a Jewish stronghold, as well as the yellowing newspapers hung on the corridor walls.
