Łódź has long been an important trade fair centre. In 1987 the International Fair of Garments, Textiles, Knitwear and Leather Goods INTERFASHION took place, the first proper Polish textile industry fair. Its success helped to usher in a new phase in the economic development of the town and in 1989 Lodz International Fair Ltd was established. They have been going strong ever since and their list of events includes Interlatdesign.pl, The Beauty and Aesthetics Fair, Natural Food Fair and Bocuse d'Or Poland. 2012 sees new developments with the opening of the new exhibition and conference centre.
