‘Onna’ - the Japanese word for ‘woman’ (and very close to ‘ona’ - the Polish word for ‘her’), was one of the primary subjects of Japanese art in the 17th century. These Japanese woodprints and paintings are primarily from the famed collection of Feliks Jasieński, and will be exhibited for the first time. They present of complex portrait of woman in all her beauty, grace, strength, emotion and ecstasy, with commentary on different aspects of feminine beauty and strength raised by the images themselves.
