Constructed between 1882 and 1885 at the behest of local industrialist Oscar Caro, this renaissance style villa has been operating as a museum since 1934 when it came under the stewardship of the Silesian Museum of Gliwice. Fully restored at the end of the last century the villa is a supreme example of the architecture of the day, featuring elaborate woodwork and neo-baroque ceilings. The lavish interiors are a great peek at how the bigshots of yesteryear once lived, with the first floor and half of the second expertly preserved as it once was. Features of note include splendid chandeliers, as well as paintings, copperplates and 18th century trunks. The villa is surrounded by gardens befitting one of Silesia’s most prominent capitalists.
