Events like this do not happen often. It is only the third time that world-renowned composer Krzysztof Penderecki's third opera, The Black Mask, will be performed on stage in Poland. An opera from the time of the plague, highly relevant today in turbulent times of war, pandemic and great migrations in Europe. The opera will be directed by Georg Zlabinger, under the baton of the new artistic director of the NOSPR, Marin Alsop, and performed by an international cast of soloists, chorus and orchestra. An easthetic ecumenism combining medieval and baroque music with Jewish references as well as Orthodox liturgy inspirations.
