Rawa Blues, heralded as the world's biggest indoor blues festival, has been around since 1981. It was started during a politically and socially difficult time, but it played a vital role in developing the Polish blues scene. After communism fell, the festival went international, drawing stars such as Luther Allison, Junior Wells, Koko Taylor, and Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers. Nowadays Rawa Blues is directed by vocalist and multiinstrumentalist Ireneusz Dudek and takes place yearly in Spodek and NOSPR (the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra concert hall).
