This student bar has a certain quirky and well-worn charm that it’s acquired over its almost fifty year history. Originally taking its name from an interwar avant-garde workers’ magazine, more recently it has become more of a big tent, middle of the road type of bar. They adhere pretty strictly to the tried and true formula of student clubs the world around: cheap booze, danceable tunes and passable food. While that may sound a bit drab, they have made enormous strides in the last year by undergoing a total renovation and kitchen upgrade, seemingly intent on catering and even booking corporate events. That’s all well and good, but when the lights are low and the night gets old, the discoball still reigns supreme.
