It's that time of year again - the day when literally every person you see will be sporting a red heart sticker. What do they symbolise? They're proof that you donated to the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity ('Wielka Orkiestra Świątecznej Pomocy' or WOŚP), proceeds from which go towards purchasing new, state-of-the-art medical equipment for Polish hospitals. In 2024 this extremely well-organised and successful charity raised over 281 million PLN! Coordinated by volunteers in every city and small town across the entire country, this is a worthy cause, so have a heart and be generous!

This year the primary cause is children's oncology and hematology, and the annual fundraising drive culminates in The Grand Finale - not only a final push towards achieving a target but a full day of free concerts and events taking place across PL. In Katowice, the Cultural Zone (Strefa Kultury) will be ground zero for the day's main events, with concerts taking place from 14:00 until 22:00 on the main stage located on Plac Sławika & Antalla. The annual highlight is arguably the ‘Light to the Heavens’ laser extravaganza at 20:00 (all are encouraged to bring their own light sources - flashlights, sparklers, glow-sticks, etc.), followed by the final concert from 21:00-22:00.
