Close to the Fishing Village and Kant Island you will see a huge synagogue under construction which represents another example of present-day Kaliningrad connecting with pre-war Königsberg. The original New Synagogue was built between 1894 and 1896 but was completely destroyed by fire on Kristallnacht on November 9th, 1938. The local Jewish community began reconstruction of an exact replica on the same spot in 2016.
