Originally established in 1904, the Botanical Gardens are now part of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. There are over 3,000 plant collections and over 1,000 different collections of trees and the gardens make for a pleasant and relaxing walk. From a botanic point of view, the lack of English labelling is frustrating and the gardens often feel more like a park than a scientific gardens designed to educate the public. Nonetheless, it’s worth a visit on a sunny day to get away from the hustle and bustle of central Kaliningrad.
