The tiny Russian Orthodox chapel of St. George was completed in red brick on the combat platform of the Ausfahl Gate in 1995. It can hold no more than 2 or 3 people at any one time and, as with the nearby 1200 Guardsmen monument, commemorates the patriotism and sacrifice of Soviet soldiers who died in the April 1945 capture of Königsberg.
It commands a fine view out over Victory Park and is situated close to a number of other historical sights, not least of all the Astronomical Bastion and First World War monument just across the road.
