Rediscovering the Genius of Bheki Mseleku

Celebrating the life and legacy of the late great South African jazz pianist Bheki Mseleku (1955-2008), Wits Theatre hosts this evening of music and discussion. The evening begins at 19:00 with a panel discussion where musicians, journalists and academics reflect on the art and life of Bheki Mseleku. Panellists include curator, percussionist, activist and friend of Mseleku Eugene Skeef, pianists Andre Petersen and Nduduzo Makhathini, jazz saxophonist and flautist Salim Washington, and the much-admired jazz journalist Gwen Ansell.

The discussion is followed by a live performance at 21:15 with a host of outstanding local jazz musicians including Andre Petersen, Chantal Willie, Ayanda Sikade, Sisonke Xonti, Eugene Skeef, Nduduzo Makhathini, Salim Washington, Siyanda Zulu and Thuto Motsemme playing the music of Bheki Mseleku.
