PicoGro
At PicoGro, cucamelons, fire feathers, apple blossoms, violas, miniature roses, pentas, buzz buttons, and all manner of common and not-so-common edible flowers and plants grow in greenhouses throughout the year. They are carefully tended to as the perfect additions to desserts, cocktails, savoury dishes, salads – anything edible and delicious.
The bulk of their business comes from supplying local and international markets but they offer group packages for tours which cater to the general public and students. These cost R1,000 for groups of 1–15 people, R600 for groups of 1–15 students, R2,000 for groups of 15–30 people, or R1,200 for groups of 15–30 students.
On Sat, Mar 2, 2024, they will host their first open day when anyone can join a tour and fill a punnet with edible flowers of their choice. This costs R55 p.p. for the farm tour and R75 p.p. for a tour and container to fill with your pickings. Limited spots are available; to book yours, email monique@pico-gro.co.za. Keep an eye on their Instagram for upcoming open days and workshops.
