Identity and Community – Group exhibition at The Playground Market
Saturday Nov 12 - Saturday Nov 26
73 Juta St, Braamfontein
Speaking on the exhibition Son of Langa says, "My aim for the show is to highlight and interrogate the relationship between identity and community. To the extent of allowing the artists to make a presentation of how they navigate the two."
In looking at how identity and community intersect the exhibition shows how there is both synergy and conflict between them. In allowing the artists to approach this theme from an incredibly broad angle the works on show both celebrate the individual identity while attempting to locate it within communal identities. It provides a look at the ways in whichidentity is shaped, and the different approaches the artists take create a multi-dimensional portrait of identity in South Africa today.
Exhibition is showing in The Archive Space at The Playground Market.
