For Once | Why Should I Hesitate? by Kyle Shepherd and William Kentridge
Wednesday Feb 19 20:00–22:00
Arts on Main, 264 Fox St, Maboneng, City Centre
The latest performance to take place at the centre as part of the 'For Once' series features Kentridge himself in collaboration with leading South African jazz musician Kyle Shepherd.
Why Should I Hesitate is a collaborative concert that expands on the work that the two have already carried out together through the Centre for the Less Good Idea, including sections from the new chamber opera Waiting for the Sibyl which the two created together and premiered in Rome in September 2019.
Part rehearsed and part free improvisation the evening also includes a performance of Kurt Schwitters’ sound poem Ursonate, a live piano performance by Shepherd accompanying a new in-progress animation by Kentridge and other mixtures of projection, voice and piano that promise to explore the relationships between sound, word and image.
Booking is essential as space is very limited.
