Ways-of-Remembering-Existing is a new solo exhibition by Donna Kukama at Wits Art Museum. Kukuma's work covers a wide range of practices and the exhibit includes performance, canvas works, sculptures, video, as well as a site-specific installation.

The exhibition is centred around the research Kukuma has been doing for her PhD and seeks to critique existing modes of storytelling and narrating histories. Through her work Kukuma brings forth new ways of looking at objects and texts which focus on their transitory nature.

One of the highlights of the exhibition is Kukuma's project "a history book for those who absolutely need to be remembered". The Book was started in 2015 as a tool for rethinking our attitudes towards memorials and monuments in South Africa and has since explored these ideas in a range of other contexts.

The exhibition opening event takes place on Tue, August 30 at 18:00.
