Renowned milliner Crystal Birch, known for her bold and innovative headpieces, has opened her first stand-alone pop-up store in Johannesburg at 44 Stanley (April 2024). This is a major milestone for the designer as she expands her presence in the local fashion scene. The store is a utopia with all kinds of head accessories sure to make a stylish statement, showcasing classic pieces as well as those from her 2024 collection, aptly named "A: Head." This collection is all about high-quality materials like 100% wool felt, Melusine felt, and wheat straw, reflecting Birch's commitment to quality craftsmanship and eco-friendliness.

Each hat found in the store is meticulously crafted at The Hat Factory millinery in Cape Town, (owned by Birch), which honours South Africa's rich tradition of hat-making. The store also features a unique "Hat Hospital" where customers can have their hats repaired, regardless of whether they are Crystal Birch creations or not. This service underscores Birch's dedication to sustainability and ensuring longevity for her pieces and those wanting to turn heads.
