Cape Town-based artist Coetzee is known for her portraiture representing and celebrating historical African women and royalty, and situating them in a contemporary context. Following her solo show, A Monstrous Regiment of Women, in Cape Town last year, African Queens – Restoring History is a chance for Joburg audiences to see Coetzee's work. 

Exhibition opens Thu, August 3. Walkabout on Sat, Aug 5.
