With its iconic white fabric spires stretching upwards from its roof, Marina Mirage is a Gold Coast landmark, and rightly so. Although its stunning architecture is a clear visual homage to sailboats, these days the majority of the vessels moored in the marina itself seem to be of the luxury yacht variety. In fact the shopping and dining centre has developed into one of the city's more upscale destinations, with many smaller boutiques and designers that you won't find elsewhere, which should come as no surprise given that Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort is just across the street (naturally connected by a skybridge) and the 5-star Palazzo Versace fashion hotel is directly adjacent. For those who want to arrive in style, or take an after lunch aerial tour, Gold Coast Helitours has also got your covered. Even the giant koala statue in the main atrium is wearing a tuxedo! However, it's the food that brings us here most frequently, with a selection of great restaurants and cafés offering waterfront dining on the Gold Coast Broadwater, some of which are actually easy on the wallet.
