Gdańsk Museum of Science

  Profesorska 3 ,   Old Town          (+48) 58 573 31 28     20 Nov 2024
Located in the tower of St. Catherine’s Church this small seasonal branch of the Museum of Gdańsk exhibits a collection of tower clock mechanisms dating back to the 15th century. With the advent of electrical mechanisms in the 1960s, mechanical mechanisms went out of fashion and the museum offers you a look back into a period where time-keeping may not have been as efficient but it was certainly more beautiful to watch in action. St. Catherine’s is also home to one of only 2 carillons in Poland, currently 49 bells with a mechanical keyboard. The views from the tower are also worth climbing the 258 steps to the top (you need to climb 66 steps just to reach the ticket office). Closed during the winter season

Average visiting time: 30mins.
