Atop a hill on the south bank of the Arno lies Giuseppe Poggi's 19th wonderous century creation; the terrace was initially intended as a museum of Michelangelo's works, although it now houses a restaurant and a most pleasant bronze replica of The David. The view from the terrace is breathtaking; you can take buses number 12 or 13 from the city center or follow in Dante's footsteps by passing by Porta San Miniato, going up Via Scalea del Monte alle Croci and climbing the Scalinata del Monte alle Croci stairs.
