About 10 km west of the city you will find this venue, dedicated especially to the struggle during WWII. The Nazis invaded Crete in 1941 and Chania region was the one to suffer the most casualties and losses. The museum at Platanias village is situated below the Church of St. Dimitrios used actually for shelter during the wartime. Greek people showed heroic resistance against Hitler’s troops, the Battle of Crete was a great representation of that struggle, and you can see the remains and memories of it near Chania. Have in mind though that in the winter the venue might be closed.
