Travelers can get to Crete and respectively Chania using two means of transportation – by plane and by boat. The most usual way to reach the biggest city in the western part of the island is through airfare. Chania airport operates regular flights from continental Greece year-round, and in the summer many flights are making the connection with Western Europe. Reaching Crete on a boat is primarily attainable using ferries from Athens (Piraeus).
