One of the city's most instantly recognisable buildings - thanks in large part to it tower, which rises the equivalent of eight floors above Krekov Trg - it was built at the beginning of the last century by Celje's German population in response to the Slovene's construction of Narodni Dom on the other side of the old town. The impressive neo-Gothic building was the centre of cultural life for German residents until the end of the First World War, and as such was originally known as the German House. Today it's home to Celje's tourist board, Celeia, as well as several other cultural organisations.
