Make-a-Point (the people behind the Pantelimon Art Tower) are organising two tours of the fascinating Pantelimon district of Bucharest. Known primarily as being a 'dormitory suburb' Pantelimon is in fact home to a number of urban landmarks not usually found on any tourist map. Indeed, the tours - organised as part of the campaign to make Bucharest a European Capital of Culture in 2021 - are aimed first and foremost at locals who want to learn more about the city in which they live.

The first, on Saturday, takes in Fabrica de Parașute, Spitalul Malaxa, Parcul Sticlăriei, Facultatea de Pompieri and the Art Tower itself, while the second follows a different route: Art Tower, Parcul Florilor, Mănăstirea Mărcuța, Piata Delfinului, Ostrov.

Both tours will avoid main roads as much as possible, the idea being to go behind the facade of the district and discover its hidden gems.
Both tours will depart from the right hand side entrance to Costin Georgian metro station, and will last for around two hours.
