Herastrau is Bucharest's largest park and the mainly residential area which surrounds it is home to - amongst others - the Romanian royal family, whose main residence is the Elisabeta Palace. The park itself is the location of the outstanding Village Museum (one of Bucharest's must-sees), as well as large lake on which there are boat trips in the summer. It is also home of the Hard Rock Cafe, one of the biggest in Europe and one of Bucharest's best live music venues. On the eastern side of the lake, along Soseaua Nordului, are some of Bucharest's most exclusive terraces and restaurants, while to the north of the park is the huge Casa Scanteii, the Romexpo exhibition hall and a number of hotels, including the Crowne Plaza and Pullman.
Elsewhere in the area immediately around the park is the Arc de Triumf and the Romanian Rugby Stadium.
Getting There
Metro to Aviatorilor (for the park itself), otherwise the Bucharest City Tour runs along Soseaua Kiseleff, to and from Casa Scanteii.
