Central by name, central by nature. Slap, bang on Bucharest's version of Broadway (it's all relative), amongst cinemas and theatres, the Central was totally renovated last year and is now one of the best (and best value) stays in the city. We like the staff who are always friendly, and who go out of their way to make sure you do not get ripped off by dodgy taxi drivers: such attention to detail is to be applauded.
It is as central as the name says: next to the City Hall and Cismigiu Gardens, a great escape from the Bucharestian madding crowd. It is a standard 3* hotel, nothing more than that, but the price if OK for the city (where demand is still higher than offer as far as the hotel market is concerned) and location. There is no restaurant, but nearby Vatra Restaurant makes it for a great lunch or dinner venue. And do not miss a coffee or cake at Salzburg Cafe a bit farther North.
