Trains from Ljubljana to Bohinjska Bistrica, a village around five kilometres from the lake, leave regularly. Most trains involve a change in Jesenice, and take about two hours. Even if you’re arriving by car, take advantage of the cartrain. The cartrain runs daily and goes through the largest tunnel in Slovenia. Just load your car up, and enjoy the beautiful countryside. If you’ve got your bike with you, for €3.40 (covering any distance) take your bike with you on the train too.
