Arriving
Take the A2 motorway north in the direction of Kranj and Jesenice. After passing Kranj, take the exit for Bled. Follow signs for Bled and pass through the town on the main road and approximately halfway around the lake. You'll then see signs directing you to Bohinj. The drive from Ljubljana should take around an hour and 15 minutes.
Arriving by Train
Trains from Ljubljana to Bohinjska Bistrica, a village around five kilometres from the lake, leave regularly. Most trains involve a change in Jesenice, and take about two hours. Even if you’re arriving by car, take advantage of the cartrain. The cartrain runs daily and goes through the largest tunnel in Slovenia. Just load your car up, and enjoy the beautiful countryside. If you’ve got your bike with you, for €3.40 (covering any distance) take your bike with you on the train too.
Arriving by Bus
There are numerous daily buses from Ljubljana to Bohinj. They leave every hour on the hour throughout the day and the journey takes two hours.
