Established in the 14th century, Sokolac is another medieval Bosnian hillside fortress that has been left behind by the ravages of history. But we’re not going to lie, we like our fortresses to be a little dishevelled after all, and this is exactly what a long-abandoned medieval town should really look like. The views across the valley towards Bihać are also stunning. The fortress is 5km south of modern-day Bihać, accessible via a gorgeous walking route that should take no more than an hour. Expect more developments as time goes by.
