Another intriguing World War II monument from the mind of Bogdan Bogdanović, the Garavice Monument (or the Garavice Memorial Park of the Victims of Fascist Terror, to give it its full name) is another must-visit spot for spomenik hunters and history-buffs alike, although this really should be on the Bihać list for anyone and everyone. Completed in 1981, the memorial is not unlike the Three Fists monument in Niš, although in this case there are 15 statues that resemble piles of suitcases, at least to our (admittedly shoddy) eyes. The monument was built on Garavice Hill to the west of the Bihać, where many massacres of local civilians took place during World War II. The complex is somewhat neglected today, although that neglect runs to little more than childish graffiti. This remains a poignant spot on the outskirts of Bihać.
