Visiting a humongous underground cemetery might not appeal to everyone, but we’re not going to deny that we found the Ossuary at St. James’ Church to be an immensely exciting experience. The second largest of its kind in Europe, this collection of more than 50,000 human remains was only discovered in 2001, and has been open to the public since 2012. Most believe that it was established in the 17th century, and when you take into account the violence of the Thirty Years’ War and all the plagues and other epidemics, it seems like a fair assumption.
