If you’ve seen the famous astronomical clock in Prague and are looking forward to seeing what Brno’s is like, you are in for a rude awakening. The graceful construction of the time-teller in Prague is nowhere to be seen in the second city, replaced instead by a black stone monument that is constantly compared to something decidedly un-PC. Built in 2010, Brno’s astronomical clock is unusual to say the least, an unorthodox scene that is capped off by the hordes of people shoving their hands inside just before 11 in the morning. The use of the word ‘astronomical’ is purely for gimmick purposes, but this is definitely more space-age than any of its contemporaries around the country.
