This mightily impressive cathedral is found on Petrov Hill in the centre of the city, a mass that extends high above town like some sort of majestic throne. The cathedral acts as a centrepiece all on its own, with its iconic towers stretching 84 metres high into the sky. The midday chimes come an hour early, a quirk that came about as the people of the town tried to thwart the violent Swedes during the Thirty Years’ War. It worked, believe it or not.
