Visiting a water factory may not be high on your list of things to do on your Caribbean holiday, but don't give up on this place so quickly. Did you know, for instance, that Aruba has no natural source of fresh water and that more than 100,000 thirsty people need access to this essential, life-sustaining commodity each year? For over seven decades WEB (Water- En Energiebedrijf Aruba) has been providing this service at its desalinisation plant. The abundant seawater surrounding the island is treated here and transformed into the crystal clear liquid that drips from the faucets and shower heads of your hotel room. You can take a free guided tour of the state of the art facilities every Thursday morning at 09:30.

Noord I think "800,000 people" is a bit of an exaggeration for an island 18 miles long and 6 miles wide at its widest point. The island's population is something like just over 100,000, if I'm not mistaken.
