Kyrenia’s Old Town should be your first port of call when visiting. Get it? Port? We probably should have kept that pun for a later date, but low-hanging fruit is often too delicious to resist. Kyrenia’s Old Town is delicious in its own right, a gorgeous cross-section of history and heritage where every corner brings new stories.

Kyrenia’s history is too long for every period to get a mention here, but you’ll find plenty of whispers around this half-moon-shaped harbour area. It all comes to a head with the harbour, Kyrenia’s shining light and one of the most gorgeous spots in North Cyprus. Kyrenia developed around the harbour, which won’t surprise anyone who has looked at a map, and this most picturesque spot retains an effortless grace today.

If you only do one thing in Kyrenia, you are pretty wretched at time management, but if you only have time for a single experience, make it an aimless wander around the Old Town. Yes, the “aimless” part contradicts the time management thing, but don’t blame us; blame the charm of Kyrenia’s Old Town.
