Learning his trade from some of the Eastern Cape's finest bakeries, Sam Mboko founded The Baker Brothers in Joburg in 2016. Rye, sourdough (plain or charcoal), olive ciabatta, soda bread, and whole-wheat are on the menu at this artisan bakery, plus challah loaves baked plain, topped with seeds, or flavored with cinnamon sugar, chocolate, apple, or rosemany. The scrumptious crossaints come in two sizes – whether plain, chocolate, almond, or cheese, you can take your pick. There are a few gluten-free breads on offer, as well as rusks. 

The Baker Brothers' spot at 44 Stanley next to Path Nomad gallery marks a homecoming of sorts for Mboko, who used to bake with the original Vovo Telo team in the same courtyard almost 15 years ago. Pop in and show them some love – you won't be sorry. Their other branch is in The Factory courtyard on Norwood's Grant Avenue.
