Pro Helvetia Johannesburg, part of the Swiss Arts Council, celebrates its 20th anniversary with a special programme of events this month including art exhibitions and performances.

On the 20th anniversary programme look out for: Uriel Orlow's multimedia art exhibition Theatrum Botanicum at Ellis House in New Doornfontein (on show Sep 4-Nov 4). Concerned with the politics of botanical nationalism, biopiracy and plant migration and invasion, the exhibition looks at how plants and flowers have been politicised throughout history. Meanwhile at the CNR pop-up gallery space in Braamfontein (cnr Reserve St and De Korte St) Denise Bertschi explores Switzerland's policy of neutrality and the ugly truths it hides in her photography and video and installation Neutrality as an Agent (on show Sep 5-30).

Also on the programme is Museum of Lungs, a musical documentary performance by writer Stacy Hardy which is based on her own personal experience of living with un-diagnosed TB (showing Sep 6-9 at Market Theatre) and a collaborative jazz performance by Benedikt Reising, Thandi Ntuli, Shane Cooper and Marlon Witbooi at The Orbit on Sep 19.
