The 6000m2 Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park is a must see if you're into nature. A total of 56 walking paths, which vary in length from 2 to 21km, are available, not to mention bicycle paths. But even if you're not a nature buff you can head down to the castles and country estates in the nearby wooded areas. One of the best bird's-eye views of the region is visible from the Amerongen Hill at a height of 69m - simply astounding by Dutch standards! Located east of Utrecht, between the towns of Driebergen and Rhenen, it's best reached by car just south of the A12 motorway. You can also take a train to the Driebergen-Zeist, Maarn, Veenendaal or Rhenen stations, which are all situated on the outskirts of the park. From Driebergen-Zeist it's only a short bus ride to the park information centre located inside Natuurcafé La Porte.
