Wroclaw

Sedesowce

Ah, the wonders of communist architecture. The Katowice metropolis has its Star Blocks and UFO-shaped Spodek building, Gdańsk has the 860m-long Falowiec, and Wrocław is stuck with this: Sedesowce, or Toilet Seat Buildings. Designed by Jadwiga Grabowska-Hawrylak and completed in 1973, these six blocks of flats feature quite avant-garde windows, which very quickly earned the housing estate its current name.
