Masala Indian Restaurant

  ul. Kuźnicza 3/1 A ,   Old Town          (+48) 71 302 69 49     more than a year ago
Well-positioned just off the market square, Masala does traditional Indian food in a more contemporary European style as Indian chefs work in plain view behind two long bars in the offbeat granite grey interior full of comical, conical hanging lamps, pop art elephants, and colourful seat cushions. The Express Lunch (served 12:00-15:30, Mon-Fri) fills the seats and represents not only a great bargain, but a great deal of delicious food. The regular menu hits all the marks and portions are larger than most places, earning our earnest recommendation. For those travelling with little ones, note that a babysitter is on hand 12:00-18:00 on weekends.

A great shame.Built up an appetite and looked forward to the meal. However it was like Basil Fawlty when I asked the waiter for several dishes. No sorry that's off.......no sir that's off as well......no sorry that one as well. I asked what was available and he provided me with a hand written scrap of paper from the chef indicating what was off- so I then had to scrutinize the menu for something which was on.By this time we were disgruntled so paid for drinks and left. As we left I spoke to the owner/manager who was astonished by all this and asked that we hang on while he investigated. Having confirmed the sorry state of affairs- he looked visibly upset and was very apologetic. It is January and maybe they are catering for fewer customers. But why not change the menu? On the window outside they are still displaying the New Year menu.I felt sorry for the owner/manager who was obviously "out of the loop" in terms of what was going on but he should have noticed at least one group who left before us without ordering. We'd go back if there was an assurance that the menu was correct, it would be a shame to see this place fail because it looks the part and has received very good reviews in the past

We went some days back to Masala, the food was above average but the service was pathetic. They should start training their people :|

I ordered tandoori dishes, it was my last time. I know Indian food very well as lived in UK for 5 years. The chicken was not cooked properly and when we complain to the waiter she did not apologize for that.

I have tried it and was disappointed, about an hour later. The chicken tasted a tad bit funky, but since the nice decor I did not object. The soup was tasty yet not up to par with the price and the rest of the meal. I ended up with the food out rather than in, I am a big fan of Indian food, but they should stop being cheap and use chicken breasts for their main meals.
