Welcome to Potato Kingdom, which leans into local love of the mighty tuber with a menu devoted to different types of potatoes and the many things you can do with them - from soups and salads to baked potatoes, potato pancakes and more. It's a concept, and conspicuously absent are dumplings, hashbrowns, fries and other popular potato inventions; Potato Kingdom is a bit more refined than that, leaving these precious spuds in more or less their original states, and encouraging you to learn a bit about the different types and how they taste. We have to admit, it works. The menu is concise and enticing, keeping things simple, but also jazzing them up with things like vension stew, horseradish mousse or beetroot hummus, and you can even get a shot of potato juice (no, not potato vodka, but they have that too). Vegetarians will find plenty of options and there are also sharing platters that offer menu highlights alongside cutlets and pork hocks. Having been reduced to a 'potato and vodka' diet ourselves during the early and lean IYP years, we are a bit surprised to see the concept successfully marketed, but at Potato kingdom it's not only fun and affordable, but even a bit classy.
