Werdinsel is an island in the River Limmat in the district of Höngg, a few kilometres down the river. On sunny summer days it's a blissful recreation area. Have a swim in the canal (good swimmers only!), sunbathe out in the meadow or let your kids play in the paddling pool. There are lockers, toilets, fire places to grill your own meat and a small restaurant. If you walk further west on the island, the nature gets a little wilder. On summer weekends it's crowded with families and folks having outdoor grill parties on the river bank. The most western part of the island is a nudist area and is also frequented by the gay community, but not exclusively. To get to the island take tram N°4 in direction Werdhölzli and get off at Tüffenwies.
