Bydgoszcz has a small but sparkling airport, Bydgoszcz I.J. Paderewski, set on the edge of the forest less than 5km south of the centre. From here, three carriers - Ryanair, LOT, and Lufthansa- operate flights to the UK, Ireland, Germany, and Ukraine, plus some summer holiday destinations. From 27th October, LOT will have daily flights to Warsaw. Arrivals and departures are both handled on the ground floor of the small terminal building and the distance from the plane to the terminal is minimal. On the main ground floor area find toilets, newspaper shop, currency exchange, and ATM. There is an airport information desk which although primarily there to help with flight information is happy to give you advice on getting to town, etc. Car rental options like Hertz and Avi can be found upstairs and Panek, Rentis, Enterprise downstairs. Airport parking has been under reconstruction for a while, so allow a little extra time if you're arriving by car! Bus 80 leaves from outside the main exit and can drop you off at Rondo Jagiellonów (D-4), 1km from the main square. Buy a ticket from the driver for 3zł. Taxis can be found parked outside after flights arrive. Assuming the meter is set correctly, expect to pay 25-30zł to get to the city centre, a journey which should take 10-15 minutes if there's no traffic. Make sure the taxi is clearly marked and has the fares advertised in the rear window.
