Everyone knows what they're getting with Hard Rock Cafe, even here in Venice, so in lieu of a description we'd like to tell you a very short story, really more of vignette. We were once standing in the passageway just beneath the Torre dell'Orologio on the north side of Piazza San Marco, when four young, stereotypical American guys took about three steps onto the square and had the following conversation: 'Dude, this is where they shot that movie!' 'Dude, no way, you're right!' 'Wanna go to Hard Rock?' 'Hard Rock? F*ck yeah!' And then it was quickly back from whence they came, after about 30 seconds at one of the world's grandest sights. This was simultaneously one of the most depressing, entertaining and American things we've ever seen in our many years of travelling. We're not trying to dissuade you from going to Hard Rock – by all means, go and buy a few t-shirts while you're there – but just be aware that these are the kind of people you'll be joining.
