Nowadays Velenje may not be synonymous with wine or wine-growing, but in the past the sunny south-facing hills to the east of town were covered in vineyards. This is where you can find the Gril Homestead - a 19th century farmhouse that now serves as an ethnological museum. In addition to the main building, the site includes a barn, vineyard, beehives, herb garden, orchard and pastures. Guided tours take about an hour, and can be arranged through the Velenje Museum, which also sells various organic products that are still produced on the farm.
