In Katowice since 1949, the BWA Contemporary Art Gallery showcases works by both established and budding young artists, exhibiting the most modern trends in contemporary art and promoting the work of local artists.
The building in which the gallery resides is located a few hundred metres up from the Rynek and is a typical example of brutalist architecture inspired by socialist modernism - in other words, the kind of controversial building that is polarising in tastes. Exhibits in the two independent spaces change every 1.5 to 2 months, showcasing the best of the Silesia's thriving artistic scene.
