A lot of hotels claim to be in the 'old centre' of cities, but this place has more justification than most. Built in 1770 and named after a certain long-time and hard-drinking resident Irishman, it has retained some very attractive old features including beamed ceilings. Otherwise the amenities are modern (including WiFi), the rooms well-furnished and service excellent. Its location in a side street can be a challenge to find, but when you do you'll realise it's a cosy little base hidden in the thick of things to explore. Note that reception is located at the Urban Hotel Design.
