Also known as the Old Church (Stara Crka), an easier name to remember, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin has provided a stony presence in Ljubinje since being constructed in the late 19th century. A single-nave stone beaut with three bells and unidentified icons, the church is surrounded by open-air museum of sorts, containing an Orthodox cemetery, a World War II mausoleum and a stećci necropolis, as well as a monument to the victims of the horrific Pandurica massacre during World War II. A number of archeological discoveries have been made underneath the church. This is the spiritual centre of life in Ljubinje.
