This viewing platform on the river's edge of the Kępa Bazarowa nature reserve offers what many consider to be the most beautiful panorama of Toruń's picturesque medieval Old Town.
In times past, this viewing platform was once the stepping-on point of a wooden medieval bridge that once crossed the Vistula and continued its thoroughfare through the Bridge Gate on the otherside. Thus, you are given the same impression of wonderous Toruń as many medieval traders journeying to the city by land from the south! From here, this vantage point offers a fantastic panorama of the city walls, gates and church towers towering over the rooftops. While heading over in the day time seems obvious, a night time visit is not a bad bet either - the historic buildings of the Old Town light up in all their glory, and these illuminations can only be fully-appreciated over on the Vistula's south bank.
From the Old Town side, Kępa Bazarowa and the viewing-point can be reached by “Katarzynka” - a small boat departing from the docks on Philadelphia Boulevard.
